The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved an application of a feasibility study of the corridor between Knoxville and Pella during Tuesday’s regular meeting. The application is in conjunction with the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Authority and also involves Knoxville and Pella. The study would provide grant funds to study long-term issues involving the Knoxville/Pella corridor, including the issues involving the Mile Long Bridge, T-15, T-17, and other roads.
It would also involve studying the corridor between Knoxville and Indianola as well as the possible I-80 connection to Pella. The Supervisors approved putting up about $10,000 for the study. Knoxville and Pella would each still need to approve $5000 for it. If their application is approved, grant funds would total an additional $80,000.
