With Iowa Conference records that don’t really jump off the page, both Central basketball teams will try to get a roll started tonight in Decorah as they face Luther in a doubleheader. Central shot nearly 44 percent for the game the first time these two teams met, which resulted in an 81 – 69 Dutch win. Courtney Kelderman was 6-of-10 from outside to propel her team to victory. The Dutch women are 3 – 7 in conference play, which currently makes them seventh. Right above them, however, is Luther, and a Central win would give them each a 4 – 7 record in the conference, and more importantly, the tiebreaker. The men’s game was tight in the first half, but Central let Luther slip away late in a 75 – 66 loss. The Dutch men are at 2 – 8 in the Iowa Conference and are in a three way tie for sixth place, while Luther has already clinched a spot in the conference tournament. The top six teams from the conference move onto the postseason. Central will tip-off tonight at 6:00 p.m. in Decorah.
