County Sets Policy for Weed Complaints
Posted By News On February 27, 2013 @ 6:22 am In Today’s Local News | Comments Disabled
The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved a policy for noxious weed complaints during their regular meeting today. The resolution gives the county enforcement power set forth in the state code. The county will now send reminder letters out to residents who have had noxious weed complaints in the previous three years. If those weeds aren’t sufficiently contained or destroyed, the county can move forward as it sees fit to take care of the issues. Weeds that have bloomed have the potential to have their seeds carried from one individual’s property to another’s, causing issues among landowners. The county has sought to solve this issue for a few years; the Supervisors hope this mechanism will help provide the framework and documentation necessary to take action.
