With two games left and not many opportunities to snag an Iowa Conference tournament bid, the Central men’s and women’s basketball teams know their backs are up against it. They’ll welcome in Loras College tonight for a doubleheader that needs to go the Dutch’s way. Central’s women are two games out of the sixth and final seed; in order to keep any sort of hope alive to continue their season, Central will need to win and hope Coe, Luther and/or Buena Vista all lose, too. The men are also in a precarious position, as they’re tied with Simpson at 2 – 10 in the conference with the Duhawks currently at 3 – 9 and in the sixth seed. The Dutch can clinch their spot in the tournament if they win both of their games this week, and that starts with Loras, who could also clinch a spot themselves if they are victorious over Central this evening. Tonight’s doubleheader is also “Pink Out” night, and Central has Jaarsma Bakery cookies and pink ribbons for sale to help raise money for the Pella Regional Health Center for breast cancer screenings. All of the action tips off at 6:00 p.m.
