The One to Count On...

House Republicans will focus on reforming a variety of tax laws this session, according to Representative Greg Heartsill. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that in addition to property taxes, they are hoping to provide income tax relief as well. One recent idea has been a tax credit worth 375 dollars per person. He says another house bill would provide taxpayers the option of paying under the current system or a 4.5 percent flat tax with no deductions. Heartsill says they aren’t dug in on any one option, but want to get the discussion out there as they try to ensure Iowa is competitive with neighboring states.
