Iowa Senator Amy Sinclair says the Senate’s education bill could be quite different from what the House has passed. She tells KNIA/KRLS that sub-committee work with Department of Education officials has been occurring already. Sinclair notes there were some strong items she liked in the House bill, including home school driver’s education and tax deductions for companies that contribute toward private school scholarship funds. If the Democratic-controlled Senate passes a different bill than the Republican-controlled house, the two legislative bodies would have to find middle ground and pass a new bill before Governor Terry Branstad could sign it.
