Wells Fargo Arena was a home away from home of sorts for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad Saturday as the Panthers controlled the game from the outset to cruise past Albia 44-29. Knoxville’s goal is to allow its opponent single digits in each quarter…the Panthers allowed the Lady Dees no digits in the first frame as Knoxville held a nine-to-nothing lead after the first eight minutes. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said the Panthers’ defense again was key as they forced 28 turnovers and only committed ten of their own. Rikki Hall had another strong game with 14 points to lead the way for Knoxville who goes to eight-and-ten on the season. The Boys held their own for the first half trailing 30-to-28…but the Demons outscored Knoxville 20-to-four in the third quarter to take control and win 62-to-47. Knoxville placed two in double figures led by Chase Higgenbotham’s 13 points and Gerrit Davis scored ten. Knoxville is still winless on the season and will try to get that first win Tuesday against Pella Christian.
