The One to Count On...

Tipping will be going down this summer at the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency. The fee at the landfill will be reduced $3 to $37 per ton. Director Sara Bixby says that they’ve worked hard to lower costs, and some of those efforts have paid off. This includes incentives received for environmental management programs, a reduction in costs related to managing liquid waste, and unbudgeted revenues generated from a weather event in Poweshiek County and corporate site cleanups in Monroe County. The minimum landfill charge will remain at $10; the lower fee will be enacted on July 1st.
