Upon pondering the entire 2012-13 season, Melcher-Dallas girls’ basketball coach, Jon Suntken, said the most complete game that his team played, one that he was the most proud of, was actually a loss.
“I would say probably the Moulton-Udell game,” Suntken said. “It was a game we probably should have won, but we didn’t. As far as a whole game, that was probably the most impressive by everybody that was out there. There’s a lot of games that we play, and the games that we won, it was really a total team effort. We don’t really have any one superstar, so the wealth gets spread, it just needs to get spread a little more next year.”
The Saints dropped the contest 52 – 47 after getting out to a 29 – 25 halftime lead, thanks to a 22-point second quarter. The good news for Suntken is that he’ll only lose one senior to graduation this year, and that’s Lexi Crozier, who was the second leading scorer on the team. Melcher-Dallas’ girls ended the season with a 6 – 16 mark.
