The first quarter was close, but the Pella High boys’ basketball team outscored Knoxville in the last three quarters 50 – 17, as the Little Dutch ran away with a 62 – 27 victory and the season sweep over their Marion County neighbors. Eleven different Pella players scored, led by Bryce Bortscheller’s 14 points, while Nathan Clayberg had a strong performance featuring seven points and nine rebounds. After the game, Mark Core said after a 12 – 10 first quarter, his team bore down on defense. Chase Higgenbotham had a team-high seven points for the Panthers who remain winless on the season, while Pella improves to 11 – 6. The Little Dutch and Panthers are back in action tonight, as Pella will host Fairfield, and Knoxville will travel to Des Moines and play Albia inside the Wells Fargo Arena.
