The Pella City Council approved an expanded agreement with HR Green Inc. for continued water source planning. The planning has been in progress for a long time, and a presentation of different options was given to the council last month. A new Jordan well will be built, along with adding a reverse osmosis system to the treatment plant, which is needed to treat Jordan well water while maintaining water quality. City Administrator Mike Nardini says that the new well is needed because the IDNR recommends that peak water usage should be supported even if the largest source is out of commission. The project is expected to cost around $12 million.
