Carrying momentum from their win over a ranked Centerville team, the Pella High boys’ basketball squad embarks on their journey towards the state tournament tonight when they get on the bus to go to Bondurant-Farrar in round one of the Class 3A district tournament. The Bluejays are a good offensive team; scoring 61 points per game and shooting just under 42 percent from the field. On the shots they don’t make, Pella Head Coach, Mark Core, said that his main concern in practices leading up to today’s game will be to do a better job of boxing out, as they let the Big Red get too many second and third chances during their contest. Core also told KNIA/KRLS Sports that they saw a lot of zone offense out of Centerville, and will be focusing on a more man-to-man offensive style for tomorrow’s contest. The winner of tonight’s playoff match-up moves on to play the winner of Grinnell – South Tama on Thursday. If you can’t make the trip, Justin Webster and Randy Sikkema have you covered with the play-by-play on kniakrls.com, starting with pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m. and tip-off at 7:00. There will also be a delayed broadcast on 92.1 KRLS following the Pella Christian girls’ regional final.
