The Pleasantville boys and girls both fell at home to the Southeast Warren Warhawks during Tuesday night’s Coaches vs. Cancer games. The night started off with the Pleasantville girls falling for the second time this season to the Warhawks, 57-47. The Trojans took a 29- 23 lead into the locker room but were unable to hang on for the win. Sophomore Kennedy Core led the team with 26 points. Pleasantville heads to Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Thursday to start regional play. The second game of the night saw Southeast Warren, a team the Trojans beat by 40 points earlier in the year, take down Pleasantville in overtime, 63-59. The game was nearly over in regulation when Southeast Warren’s Zach Hart went to the line to shoot three free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining in the game after being fouled behind the three-point line. Hart only made two of three to tie the game at 55 and send the game into overtime. Afterwards, Coach Wilkins talked about the heartbreaking loss. Dylan Lauer led the all Trojans with 18 points on the night. The big winner on Tuesday, however, was the American Cancer Society, as Pleasantville racked up over $4,000 for the charity through all of their various activities the school had throughout the evening. Pleasantville will play at Colfax-Mingo on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
