RAGBRAI is more than five months away, but city and community leaders in Knoxville are already very busy organizing for the event. Dan McKay is the RAGBRAI Ride Right Chairman and has been involved in RAGBRAI for more than 30 years. Ride Right reinforces safety and courtesy tips for riders. McKay tells KNIA/KRLS News that the whole community will see huge benefits from the event.
A 2004 study shows that the economic impact on a RAGBRAI overnight stop is $3.4 million. He explains that if you combine that with the philosophy that money spent locally will turnover seven times in a community like Knoxville, you get an impact of more than $21 million.
