After losing a couple of tough games to conference rival I-35 Tuesday night, Pleasantville’s varsity basketball squads are back at it again tonight to begin the wind down of their seasons at home against Mount Ayr. For the Trojans’ girls, they have two regular season games left before playing Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament this Thursday. Pleasantville enters at 1 – 19 on the season and Mount Ayr is 9 – 9. Pleasantville’s boys will try and put a heartbreaking, last-second-overtime-buzzer-beating loss aside and focus on the Raiders this evening. Mount Ayr has won 10 of their last 12 games, and has seen their offense propel them to success as of late. Coach Tom Wilkins would like to see better shot selection and longer offensive possessions out of his team if and when they get a big lead. Tonight’s doubleheader will be streamed live on our website, kniakrls.com, with Kris Krug and Ed Bull on the call, with pregame coverage starting at 6:15 p.m.
