State Representative Guy Vander Linden says he expected a bill that would do away with straight party voting options in elections would pass subcommittee, but thinks it will be debated in the full House and Senate. He thinks it won’t be debated on party lines, but will have people for and against it on both sides. The bill aims to take away the ability for Iowa voters to mark one box on a ballot to vote for every candidate of a specific party. Iowa is one of only a handful of states that allows straight ticket ballots.
