In his second year as head coach of the Pella High boys’ golf team, Bob Fessler is coming off a strong first season at the helm which saw his guys make it to the state tournament and place fifth. Fessler says that he has a pair of juniors and sophomores returning from that state team last year that are hungry for more this season. As for the rest of his team, Fessler is consistently surprised by who steps up and performs at a high level. Fessler says that he’s been inching is guys outside more and more and having them work on chip shots. He mentioned that his guys are also taking trips up to Des Moines to shoot balls in the Dome to try and stay loose and ready for the regular season. The Pella High boys’ golf team is scheduled to have their first meet on April 1 at Bos Landen against Pella Christian and Norwalk.
