The Central baseball team got to leave Florida a little sooner than they expected, but not the way they would want, as they dropped their game to Benedictine, 19 – 6 in seven innings. Central was able to get off to a 6 – 1 lead after the first inning, but pitcher Matt Schissel had the wheels come off in the second, giving up seven runs before being yanked for reliever Ryan Deuel. The Dutch had almost as many errors (4) as they did hits (5) in the game. Central finished their Florida trip with a 6 – 3 record with one game being cancelled due to rain against Webster College. They are off for a week before starting Iowa Conference play this Friday against Loras, and next Saturday’s doubleheader versus the Duhawks will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS.
