The heroics of Central softball first baseman, Katie Canney propelled the Dutch to a two-game sweep of visiting St. Scholastica at neutral site Oskaloosa on Friday. With the game tied at three in the bottom of the ninth and one out, Canney walloped a round-tripper to right-center to give the Dutch their only lead of the first game and the win, 4 – 3. Mallory Schulenberg, who was scheduled to pitch in game number two, earned the win by entering the game in the seventh inning. The nightcap was not nearly as exciting, as Central grabbed a three-run, first inning lead, followed by a grand slam by pitcher Rhianna Fleetwood in an 11 – 0 five-inning rout. Fleetwood also picked up the win by giving up just one hit in three innings of work. Central now sits with a 15 – 5 record, and today will play Wisconsin – Eau Claire, who enters play with a 12 – 2 record, and Gustavus Adolphus, who are a misleading 3 – 7. You can catch both of those games streamed live at at 8:45 a.m. with the pregame, and action will get underway at 9:00 a.m. We will also have a delayed broadcast of the doubleheader on 92.1 KRLS at 2:00 p.m. Trevor Castle will have the call.
