A resolution was read on the Iowa House floor on Wednesday morning declaring Knoxville as the birthplace of the Iowa State Flag. The state flag was designed in Knoxville by Dixie Gebhardt in 1917. Mayor Don Zoutte was on-hand to take part in the proclamation. He says a number of legislators read a portion of the resolution, with Representative Greg Heartsill reading the last part. Friday is Iowa State Flag Day.
