The Pleasantville boys’ track and field team is into its final few weeks of practice before opening up the season in early April. With a Pride of Iowa Conference comprised of a mix of Class 1A and 2A schools, it may be a numbers game that determines who wins the conference meet later on in the season. Trojans’ head boys’ track coach, Gabe Bakker, said that despite the numbers game, there is one team that stands out as an early “favorite,” and that’s Mount Ayr. Coach Bakker said that early on, all of his guys think they are sprinters, so he’s still trying to figure out line-ups and athletes to fill the field events. Pleasantville’s boys start the outdoor track season on April 2 at PCM.
