Hy-Vee Dietitian Caitlin Rondello tells KNIA/KRLS News that many seniors experience a loss of appetite as they age, and the body begins to use lean body mass – or muscle – for nutrition. She explains it’s important to protect those muscles by eating nutrient dense foods. Rondello adds older people especially need protein. Protein-rich foods include Greek yogurt, eggs, nuts, and lean meats.
