Getting frustrated with having practice indoors, the PCM boys’ golf team and returning Class 2A Player of the Year, Hunter Van Veen, are taking matters into their own hands and hitting some balls at Newton’s golf course. Mike Smith, the head coach, said that his seniors are helping out the younger Mustangs at the course and are getting prepped for the golf season. Smith says that having Van Veen back this year is like getting to have two coaches on the team for the price of one. He adds that Van Veen’s knowledge is invaluable to the squad and that his team could be the team to beat in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Harvest Point is the first destination of PCM boys’ golf, where they will have a triangular meet to begin their season against Lynnville-Sully and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on April 2.
