Add another pair of shutouts to the resume for Central softball, as they were able to easily handle Texas Lutheran and Marian Colleges yesterday in Tucson, Arizona. The Dutch women picked up all three runs in the first inning against Texas Lutheran, and that’s all they would need, behind the strong pitching of Mallory Schulenberg, who threw a two-hit complete game shutout en route to her third victory on the year. Central had just as easy of a time with Marian, winning that game in five innings, 8 – 0. Brie Haycraft and Courtney Meyer combined for the shortened game shutout. Emily Te Brink had only one hit in the game, but it was a two-run triple to help guide the team to the sweep. After starting the season with a 1 – 4 record and allowing 21 runs over those first five games, the Central softball team has since went 5 – 0 and has only given up one run . They are 6 – 4 at the moment and will play Trinity and Chatham today in doubleheader action.
