In addition to making the Class 2A state tournament this season, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team also had six athletes voted onto the Little Hawkeye Conference’s All-Conference team for the 2012-13 campaign. Seniors Austin Ver Meer and Blake Riggen were chosen to represent the Eagles on the first team. Ver Meer led his squad in scoring and rebounds; averaging almost a double-double for the year with over 15 points and just under ten rebounds per game. Blake Riggen was the team’s leader in assists and steals, and was their third leading scorer with eight per contest. Junior Coltin Collins and freshman Sebastian Baugh made it to the second team all-conference, while senior Riley Stursma and junior Jared Van Wyk received an honorable mention for the Eagles, who finished their year at 20 – 5 after dropping their opening round contest to Sheldon in the state tournament this past Tuesday.
