One of the most talked about highlights of the Pella High girls’ basketball team’s season was their thrilling double overtime victory over ranked conference rival, Oskaloosa in January. The Lady Dutch got off to another one of their fast starts but saw the early lead dwindle away when the Indians were able to tie it late to send it to overtime. Pella overcame a five-point deficit in the first overtime to tie it up and send it to an extra four minutes, where the Lady Dutch again came from behind to end up on top, 56 – 51. Garland said that the win over Oskaloosa may have been the most enjoyable to be a part of, because of the amount of emotion his girls showed on the court. Pella’s girls used the momentum from that game to beat a ranked Washington team and beat Grinnell in overtime the following week. Pella finished up this year at 9 – 13.
