Some rural Marion County residents can expect the boil order to continue through the weekend. Officials at Marion County Rural Water tell KNIA/KRLS News that the water line that was broken has been fixed, but now they must test the water for contaminants. A water main break lowers water pressure, increasing the chance that contaminants have entered the water stream. Authorities say you should boil water for a minute before using it for drinking or cooking and also recommend the use of bottled water.
The water must pass DNR tests on consecutive days before a boil order advisory is lifted. Officials say if all goes well, the advisory will be lifted on Sunday or Monday. KNIA/KRLS will ley listeners know as soon as the boil order is lifted.
