It was a bounce back afternoon of baseball for the Central Dutch in more ways than one, as they rallied to win a pair of ballgames over rival Simpson on Monday. Down 5 – 2 in the seventh inning of game one, Central put four runs on the board on the strength of just two hits and held on to win 6 – 5. Again, the Dutch were in a hole 5 – 0 in the nine-inning contest, but the bats came alive to help Central pick up a second – and important – Iowa Conference victory, 9 – 5. Third baseman, Adam Ariola, picked up four hits in the second game and drove in three runs to lead the charge for Central, who now sit with a 15 – 8 overall record and gain some ground in the league with a mark of 7 – 5. First place Wartburg is looming this weekend for a huge four-game set for Central, and you can hear the tail end of that series on 92.1 KRLS this Saturday.
