The trio of Central’s softball team, their home field, and the weather have not been on the same page at all this season. They will try once again to play a doubleheader at home this afternoon against visiting Dubuque. The Dutch have won 11 straight, which has propelled them to 17th in the latest Division III Softball polls. Perhaps the most impressive statistic in their latest streak is that their pitching has only allowed 17 runs during that time, and haven’t played a regulation seven-inning game since March 23, as their last seven games have either ended early or went to extra innings. Central is 20 – 5 overall and 4 – 0 in the Iowa Conference entering play, while Dubuque is 10 – 10 overall but also undefeated in league play with a mark of 4 – 0. Today’s doubleheader gets going at 2:00 p.m.
