The Central softball team was able to extend their streak to 12, but get no further, as they split their Iowa Conference doubleheader against Dubuque on Saturday. Five-innings was all it took in the first game, as the Dutch won 10 – 2, thanks to a six-run first. Errors in the second game cost Central. After jumping out to a 2 – 0 lead, a pair of runs scored on miscues by Central, then a three-run shot in the seventh over the left-field fence by the Spartans pushed Dubuque over the top, 5 – 2. With the split, four teams are tied atop the standings in the league; Central, Dubuque, Coe and Luther are all 5 – 1 in the Iowa Conference, and Central will try Monday to play a doubleheader at home against Buena Vista.
