The Central women’s softball team keeps on rolling, as they added Loras to their latest list of casualties in a doubleheader sweep Sunday afternoon, 5 – 3 and 9 – 1. Having a two run lead into the bottom of the seventh and final inning in game number one, the Duhawks scrambled to plate the tying run to force extra innings. Unfortunately for Loras, Central fired themselves up after losing the lead and countered with a pair of runs themselves in the very next half inning, starting with a lead-off homer off the bat of catcher Caitlyn Meyer, her first of two on the day. Mallory Schulenberg picked up the win in that game, going to 9 – 1 on the year. The Dutch made quick work of Loras in game two, winning 9 – 1 in just six innings. Meyer hit another home run in the game, this time a two-run shot to help propel the team to victory. Central now sits with a 20 – 5 record and are spotless in league play with a 4 – 0 mark. The Dutch will try again to play their home opener tomorrow against Buena Vista starting at 4:00 p.m.
