A trip to Southeast Polk was all the Pella Christian girls’ soccer team needed, apparently, as they were able to come away with a record 1 – 2. Coach Bill Collman said he was extremely pleased with how the offense looked despite the conditions and with some of his girls missing due to their band concert. The Eagles started the day off with a win over Des Moines North, 3 – 0. Marina Shannon, Ashley Ambrosen and Abby Pleima all scored for the Eagles, who went on to face PCM in the next game but fell 4 – 2. PCM had a 2 – 0 lead at halftime, and Pella Christian responded in the second half with a pair of goals from Morgan Anderson and Pleima. The Mustangs unfortunately went on to get a couple more towards the end to seal the victory. The Eagles were also shut out playing Davenport West, 1 – 0. Collman said his team had nine shots on goal but could not get anything through. Pella Christian is now 1 – 4 on the year and will play at Newton on Tuesday.
