Two games, and two very different stories for the Pella Christian soccer teams on Tuesday. Starting with the girls, the Eagles won 3 – 2 after surviving double overtime and winning in penalty kicks. Marina Shannon and Abby Pleima were the goal scorers for Pella Christian, who improve to 2 – 6 on the season. The boys had a tougher time against the Indians, dropping their contest 4 – 1. Down 2 – 0 in the first half, Matt Spoelstra found the back of the net thanks to a pretty pass from John Admiral to make the game close going into halftime, but defensive breakdowns prevented the Eagles’ boys from the win in the second half. Pella Christian’s boys fall to 1 – 5 on the year with the loss, and the girls next play this Monday at home against South Tama, while the boys get a nice break as well, playing at rival Pella on Tuesday.
