Rain barrels were helpful for many homeowners during last summer’s drought. Marion County Extension Specialist Karen Ackley says you can learn more about them during a workshop this Saturday. Rain barrels are a tank that captures storm run-off, typically from the roof of your home. Ackley says the one she used last summer was efficient in capturing water to be used for her garden or lawn.
Representatives from Rain Barrels Iowa will help explain how rain barrels work and different ways they can be utilized. No pre-registration is required, but Ackley says it is preferred. The workshop runs from 10:30-noon Saturday at the Extension Office.
