They were two close games, but both of Pella’s soccer teams came away with a win yesterday. Coach Mark Solomon the Pella High boys’ soccer team said that his team played perhaps their best 40 minutes of soccer of the season in the opening half of their game against Gilbert on Monday, winning in a shutout, 2 – 0. Austin Van Genderen scored off a pass from Coleman Neil in the 10” then scored again off an assist by Anthony Bentzinger in the 22”. The girls won 4 – 3 over Marshalltown to stay undefeated on the year. Bri Schroeder continued her hot start to the season with a three point night; scoring two goals and adding a helper. Gabi Meirick and Mallory Lynch each scored a goal as well, while Allie DeMeulenaere had an assist for the Lady Dutch, who will next be in action in a tournament on Saturday at Urbandale. The Little Dutch improve to 3 – 2 – 1 on the season and will be at future Little Hawkeye Conference school, Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday.
