Recent cooler weather aside, it’s spring and many of our warm weather birds have arrived, while others are yet to come. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz tells KNIA/KRLS News that it’s time to get out the binoculars and go bird watching. On a recent outing, Mertz identified osprey, pelicans, cormorants, mallards, Canada Geese, eagles, cattle egrets, great blue herons, and bluebirds among other species. She adds that the trails on Lake Red Rock are great places to go bird watching.
