In what Coach Mike Smith called an “off day,” his PCM boys’ golf team finished second in the Heart of Iowa Conference tournament on Monday to South Hamilton. The Mustangs shot 320 on the day; nine strokes behind the Hawks, who had the top two golfers on the day. Trevor Ullestad and Braxton Risetter shot 70 and 73, respectively, to earn medalist and runner-up honors. Devon Woody was the top golfer for PCM with his round of 76, good enough for a tie for fourth. Coach Smith told KNIA/KRLS Sports that this was one of Woody’s best rounds all year. Ryan Jennings shot 79, and number-one golfer in the state, Hunter Van Veen, was tenth individually with a round of 81. PCM will have no time to think about Monday, as they are right back on the course today, at Jester Park to face Des Moines Christian, South Hamilton and Panorama at 2:00 p.m.
