Pella and Grinnell didn’t make friends with each other Tuesday in a pair of contests on the soccer pitch, as it was the Dutch that came out victorious on both the boys’ and girls’ side. A strong first half by Allie DeMeulenaere fueled the Lady Dutch to their win, 3 – 0. The senior knocked in two goals, while Ashley Kirkland also scored for Pella, with Gabi Meirick and Bri Schroder each tallying an assist. The Lady Dutch soccer team is now 5 – 1 and will be playing in a tough tournament in Nevada next this Saturday. The game was scoreless on the boys’ side until Will Warner broke through in the 57’ to give his team the one and only goal for either side, and the win 1 – 0 over the Tigers. After the game, Coach Mark Solomon said that this season, his guys play better the deeper they get into the game. Pella’s boys are 4 – 2 – 1 and play at Perry next on Monday.
