Despite the Drake Relays and various senior trips going on, not to mention teams battling injuries, Twin Cedars and Pella Christian turned in some decent results Thursday, as did the Lady Dutch. Pella Christian’s girls finished fourth in the Tulip Time Relays at Pella High. Sarah Meyer came in second in the 100 meter dash, and both the 4 x 100 and 200 relay teams also recorded a second place finish. Leading the way for the Eagles was the distance medley relay team of Taylor Bolt, Sydney Faber, Christa Veenstra, and Alyssa Starkey which came in first place with a time of 4:38.4. Dak Rasmussen of the Pella girls’ track team said that he had ten season-best performances last night. The Sabers’ girls finished in the top eight in several events at the Pella High meet, highlighted by a second place finish from Brittney Roby in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of just under 18 seconds. Roby also was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles. Coach Keith Anderson for Pella Christian’s boys’ track team was without his seniors, but still had the rest of the team turn in some good numbers. Zach VanZee was third in the 100 meter dash, and fifth in the 200 meters. Dillon Branderhorst was fifth in the 100 meters. A full list of results is attached to this story below.
