Soggy Conditions Won’t Keep Area Golfers Away from the Links

With the weather being a bit monotonous lately, it’d be pointless to talk about the conditions leading up to today’s area golf meets. So we won’t. Four Little Hawkeye Conference powerhouses will be in action at Bos Landen later today in a quad dual meet; Pella, Pella Christian, PCM and Dallas Center-Grimes’ boys golf teams will hit the links this afternoon. Mustangs’ head coach, Mike Smith has been very impressed by the golfing of senior Hunter Van Veen, the returning Class 2A Player of the Year. Bob Fessler and Jim Dingeman, Pella and Pella Christian’s head golf coaches, respectively, also have been happy with how their athletes have done at this point in the year. Meanwhile, on the girls’ side of things, the Eagles just finished second in Newton to the host Cardinals on Tuesday and are back at it again today at home in a dual versus North Mahaska at the Pella Golf & Country Club. Both meets get underway today at 4:15 p.m.
