It was a bittersweet ending to the 2013 spring track season for Melcher-Dallas’ Cody Alexander, as he crossed the finish line first in his heat in the 800 meter finals to open up day three of the Class 1A boys’ state track meet. Alexander unfortunately was not challenged much during the two-lap race, as he led from the gun to the finish. The Saints’ track star clocked in with a time of 2:04.60, which earned him seventh place overall, and two points towards the team standings. Saturday’s event was the final one for any of our local schools out of Class 1A.
