The Central softball team continues to rise, while the men’s track squad slipped a few spots in their most recent, respective polls. Both squads seemed to flip-flop their positions; Central softball was ranked 14th but jumped to 12th, thanks to a sweep of preseason conference favorite, Luther College this past weekend. The two wins clinched a tie at the top of the league at 12 – 2 for the Dutch’s 11th Iowa Conference crown in school history. Central is currently 28 – 7 overall and will play Friday instead of today in the conference tournament due to the weather. The men’s track team at Central was 12th, but fell to 14th overall. Two school records fell this past week at the Drake Relays for the Dutch, and they’ll hope to compete at the Monmouth College invitiational this Saturday, which acts as a final tune-up before their Iowa Conference championships May 9 – 11.
