Pella and Knoxville’s track and field teams really got to work on Friday, as each made significant strides towards competing for an overall team title. The Pella girls started the afternoon with a sixth place finish in the medley relay finals for Class 3A. In the 400 meter hurdles, Kenny DuPre came in 15th overall, Jordon Pingel was first in his heat and sixth overall, and Ryan Douglas placed fourth in his heat and overall for Knoxville. In other top performances, Pella’s Lydia VanEe came in fourth overall in the 400 hurdles, the Little Dutch 4 x 200 meter relay finished second overall in the finals, while the Lady Dutch’s 4 x 200 finished eighth; Ryan Douglas’ 110 meter high hurdles came in eights to qualify for finals today; Knoxville’s distance medley relay was third; and the Pella boys’ and girls’ 4 x 100 meter relay qualified for finals to be ran today, as did their 4 x 400 meter relay teams. The Panthers’ 4 x 400 meter squad also will run in the finals today. Both Pella and Knoxville’s boys are in the hunt for an overall team title, KNIA/KRLS Sports will be inside Drake Stadium live for the final day of the Iowa State Track Meet.
