A woman with Knoxville ties and her family were among the thousands that lost their homes in the tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, on Monday. Family friend Ben Butler tells KNIA/KRLS News that Katie Kalvik-Gastineau and her family are all alright, but lost their home, sprint car shop, and business. Katie’s husband Whit is an active sprint car driver in the Oklahoma and Texas area. They believed that they had lost their dog as well, but it was located Monday night. Their dog was found a half-mile away from their home in a pond; apart from a scratch on its nose and a hurt paw, it’s said to be doing alright. Local efforts are already being made to help the family. For more information on how you can help, call Butler at 641-230-0082.
