Knoxville takes to the softball diamond for the first time tonight as the Panthers open up play at Albia. Knoxville is coming off an 8-19 season last year. Coach Steph Christner had to field one of the youngest squads in the area. Nearly all of the team from last season is back with a few exceptions, and again, the Panthers will be young again especially in the circle with freshman Emily Wallace, who as an eighth grader last year, got the bulk of the pitching. She handed her self well going 8-17 with an E-R-A of 3.43 and 56 strikeouts. AM 1320 KNIA will have complete coverage of the Panthers’ season opener starting at 7:15, you can also listen live at kniakrls.com.
