Finishing the regular season with not only a stellar 15 – 1 record but with a convincing win over a highly-touted and ranked Dallas Center-Grimes team, the Pella High girls’ soccer squad will begin their push towards a return trip to the state tournament tonight at home against PCM. The Lady Dutch beat D-C-G 2 – 1 after winning in penalty kicks to wrap their regular season up this past Thursday, while the Mustangs were playing for their postseason lives against Oskaloosa and beating the Indians 4 – 2 on that very same night. These two teams have not played each other in recent years, which may play to PCM’s favor early on. They will have a tough time scoring against Pella, however, as the Lady Dutch have allowed a borderline-scary average of 0.63 goals per game through 16 matches. The winner of tonight’s game will play either Grinnell or Newton this Monday in Pella in the Class 2A regional final.
