One Pella soccer team will be wrapping up their regular season tonight while the other tries to win a Little Hawkeye Conference title as the Dutch face Newton in a pair of conference games both home and away. The number six ranked Pella girls only have one blemish on the schedule to this point, and that’s to Class 3A Johnston, and are otherwise perfect on the season and in the conference. However, Newton also only has one loss on the year, to A-D-M, a team that the Lady Dutch beat earlier this season. Senior Gabi Meirick says that even with the advantage over common opponents, her team will not be taking Newton lightly. The winner of tonight’s game in Newton wins the Little Hawkeye Conference championship outright. The Pella boys will be hosting the Cardinals tonight, looking to end their season on a high note. The 10 – 5 – 2 Little Dutch know they received a first round bye in their substate bracket, and will play at home versus either Chariton or Oskaloosa next Wednesday the 22nd. Both games are scheduled to get under way at around 7:00 p.m.
