Just three strokes back after day one of the Class 2A state golf tournament, the PCM boys are sitting very nicely and are happy with where they are at. Waterloo Columbus shot a 313 to lead the pack after the first 18 holes, and conference rival South Hamilton is just seven strokes off the pace with a 320. Hunter Van Veen carded the Mustangs’ low score with a 75 and he is one shot off the individual lead. Devon Woody and Ryan Jennings each shot a 78 and Justin Beener carded an 83 to round off the scoring for PCM. Coach Mike Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the course will play tougher on day two and said he’d be thrilled with another total of 316. Day two action gets underway later this morning.
