The big hit just didn’t come for the Pella boys’ baseball team on Tuesday night, as they dropped their opening game of the year to Nevada, 4 – 2. The Little Dutch left ten runners on base, but were still able to keep the game tied going into the sixth inning, thanks to senior Jacob Gleason’s five innings of strong work, only giving up two hits, but allowing four runs while walking three and striking out six. Ethan Butler went 1-for-4 from the plate and swiped two bases for the Little Dutch, who start the season 0 – 1, and will play at Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday, in a game that will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS.
