A close game was expected and had between two Little Hawkeye Conference teams in the semifinals of the Class 2A substate tournament last night. The Little Dutch of Pella ended up with a 2 – 1 win over Oskaloosa to advance to the finals this Saturday. There was no score after the first 40 minutes of the contest and the goose eggs stayed on the board for almost 20 minutes of the second half, until Pella scored two goals in a span of seven minutes, when Will Warner and Anthony Bentzinger found the back of the net with a pair of goals, thanks to assists from Daniel Langenfeld and David Wiley. The Indians did score one later on in the second half, but would get no other good looks the rest of the game as the Little Dutch held on. Pella will now play Centerville at the Pella Soccer Complex at noon on Saturday with the winner earning a trip to the state tournament at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines starting next Thursday.
